Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell Immunotherapy (CAR-T) is one of the effective methods for the treatment of malignant tumors that use of the patient's own immune cells to clear its own cancer cells.
Principle of the technology:
- T cells are collected from a patient and engineered to produce chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) on their surface;
- The reengineered CAR T cells are multiplied and then infused into the patient;
- CAR T cells recognize and kill cancerous cells that have the targeted antigen on their surface. They stays in the body and guard against recurrence.
